Boston Street Post Light Jonathan Biggs, lampmaker designed the "Boston Street Post Light", which has since become a classic colonial post light for street lighting use. Hundreds of these post lanterns can still be seen today on the streets throughout the historic city of Boston, MA, in both the original gas light application as well as the modern electrified version. The attractive and durable design of the Boston Street Light combines the best features of all of the lanterns of this period. The steel support cradle, although not part of the original design, is a necessary addition to ensure the strength and stability of these stately classic colonial post lights against the elements of Mother Nature.
